Details of the Ride

Dave’s Ride is a rolling 44 mile ride which winds from the Nimblewill area over to the back side of R-Ranch and the start of the 3 or 6 gap ride.  It is largely out and back with a small loop on the end.  It is remote, certainly a road less traveled, and a great training ride.  It will be scenic and challenging.  There are no stores on the route unless you ride the gaps so bring at least 60 – 90 oz. of water and something to eat.  We will have people riding both the long versions (Dave's + 3/4 gap - 78/92 miles) and the 44 mile version.  Click here for the Dave's Ride Route Map, or the  Dave's Ride Route Profile.

Who Can Play:

We will ride the first 24 miles at a relatively easy pace but this is a training ride so you may get dropped.  The route is marked and maps will be provided.  You should be able to ride 50 – 60 rolling miles to ride the first part.  Don’t do the gaps with this ride unless you know you can ride a rolling 100 miles.  If you are unsure, please give me a call to discuss.

Directions:

Take GA 400 North about 45 miles from I-285 and about 4 miles past the outlet mall to Burnt Stand Road.  Turn left at Burnt Stand Road.  Burnt Stand is a controlled intersection with a chevron station on left and a Ford dealer on the right.  Follow Burnt Stand until it dead ends (2.7 miles) and turn right at Auraria Road.  Continue on Auraria Road for 1.8 miles and turn left on Ben Higgins (just past a large rusted Crane on Left).  Continue on Ben Higgins for 3.5 miles until it dead ends at Dawsonville Highway.  Turn left on Dawsonville Highway and continue for 0.25 miles to Highway 52.  Turn right on Highway 52 (towards Ellijay and Amicalola Falls).  Continue on 52 for 4.8 miles to Nimblewill Chirch Road.  Turn right at Nimblewill Church Road (old closed down country store (Grizzle's) on right with a sign which says 'custom homes').  Park in the old store parking lot.

Plan on least 1.25 hours from I-285 and GA 400
